Why Should I Become Certified? (Excerpted from a
letter submitted by Carole LaPine, CPMSM, CPCS, MSC in November,
2004):
The level of accountability we hold in ensuring quality
medical services may never be fully appreciated, but we can certainly help
others better understand how we directly impact patient
care.
Certification in the field of Medical Services Management or
Provider Credentialing Specialist is something that many of your peers are
currently striving for or have already accomplished. The Certification Board of
NAMSS (CBN) would like to encourage you to consider this opportunity. We are
constantly improving the certification program to ensure that it meets the
needs of our profession, and we have several enhancements planned for the
coming year.
Despite the potential of it being required by employers or
a means to higher compensation, certification is an investment in your future.
The valuable knowledge you will gain from simply preparing to take the exam
will greatly support you in becoming a true expert in our
field.
